UK and US Layout L89 USB Keyboards

Specifically designed for existing users this keyboard maintains as closely as possible the classic J88 layout and thumb groupings but has the unified keys as per the J89 PS/2 keyboards for modern operating system compatibility.

The L89 incorporates a native USB controller for use with both PC and Apple computers.

The three multi-medial sound control keys present on Apple keyboards are included for both PC and Apple use. These are positioned above the [shift] keys.

Between the two operating systems the Apple [Eject] key (which does not work for PCs) replaces the PC [Application] key (which has no equivalent for Apple keyboards).

Note:

In the following layout diagrams the primary key layout shown in Black is engraved on the keytops. The green letter/symbols show the alternate ROM layout key positions, and are NOT engraved on the key-tops, unless the dual engraved option is specifically ordered.

All key-top engraving, irrespective of layout diagram colour, is laser engraved as "black" (actually due to process factors of laser engraving it is a dark grey) on light grey key-tops. See picture above.

US Keyboards

New Two-handed Maltron keyboard.

During the last 25 years more than 2,000 keyboard users have now successfully used a standard Maltron two-handed fully-ergonomic keyboard to recover from keyboard induced pain.

The new Maltron "L89" two-handed keyboard model updates our existing proven design with a native USB controller for use with both PC and Apple computers.

The L89 key layout is specifically designed to provide an upgrade path for existing UK and US J88 keyboard users. For new users the L90 model is recommended.

Dual engraved Qwerty/Maltron key tops are optionally available for users who need to be able to change between the two installed layouts. ( Note: Q/m layout ONLY )

All key positions are specifically mapped in the keyboard irrespective of layout selected, no additional setup is required in the computer in order to use the keyboard.

All Maltron keyboards also contain an alternative Qwerty key place map which can be selected by the user.

(We regret that due to the high cost of preparation, manufacturing and stocking other layouts are not available.)

• Large palm pads give a comfortable resting and relaxing zone for hands and arms during “thinking time”, to encourage blood flow and recovery.

• Four separate layout (2 x PC and 2 x Apple) key code lookup tables return correct key codes for PC and Apple specific functions.

The MALTRON fully ergonomic keyboards have been shown to relieve the symptoms of RSI (Repetitive Strain Injury) in hundreds of cases and has enabled many RSI sufferers to resume their careers.
