TRAINING EXERCISES FOR THE MALTRON SINGLE HAND KEYBOARD

Remember to read each word across the lines.

Always concentrate through eyes on to the copy as you key

Do not worry about keying errors, do not try to go back and delete mistakes - it is more important to key the same group a few more times and get it right that way than to go back and correct an error.

Exercise 1:

Introducing a t e h d and s.

Key d and t with the middle finger.

Key a and s with the index finger.

Key e with the third finger and h with the little finger. To navigate with the keyboard you can usually use the TAB key (with the little finger).

Key each row three times, as shown. The repetition is required because the human body learns new movements only with repetition.

Key Return at the end of each row. Only one space is needed between groups of letters.

Use the TAB key to get into this box, and when you have finished use the TAB key to move out of this box to the next. Use the little finger for the TAB key. Shift key and TAB together will move you in the opposite direction. Or you can use the mouse to go from box to box.

These text boxes have no memory of your typing and are wiped clear when you close your browser program. As text boxes they operate very much like your ordinary word processor. Have a go, you have nothing to lose.

Now repeat the exercise again below:

The grouping of these letters has been carefully selected to exercise your fingers on and very close to the home row, and also working across the fingers and back again. This overall motion is part of the training - your hand will learn for itself where the keys are.

RELAX YOUR ARM FROM THE SHOULDERS RIGHT DOWN TO THE FINGER TIPS THOROUGHLY. SHAKE FINGERS AND WRIST.
